Courses

The L2 Accent Reduction Centre is located in Kerrisdale at 6093 West Boulevard.

Individuals can choose to take any combination of accent reduction, writing, or skills plus a one year monitored web based accent reduction program or 3 months of online writing support. All programs include a textbook.
( Medical programs include Canadian Speech Sounds for Healthcare Professionals.)

Accent Reduction- Clients learn techniques to retrain the muscles of the mouth to correct and maintain new speech patterns. These patterns will be reinforced through a specialized voice recognition software program that will be monitored by a Speech Professional. Clients will receive weekly feedback in addition to the class sessions.

Writing- Clients learn grammatical functions specific to business correspondence and learn devices to change the tone of their written correspondence.

Speaking and Voice- Clients learn how to use their voice to convey a polished and professional image when speaking on the phone, during presentations, and as different situations arise.

Fees:
Professional Packages are available in 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 sessions
Medical Packages are available in 4, 8, 12, 16 or 20 sessions

*Group lessons can be arranged upon request for corporate/professional or medical clients.

Online Clients

Option #1- Skype Option-Our programs are very flexible and designed around one's personal or work schedule. During each one-hour lesson, we show clients techniques to retrain the muscles of one's mouth to produce North American sounds. During each lesson 2-3 different techniques will be taught. These techniques will be reinforced through our voice recognition online software program. After the 10-20 sessions are completed, you will continue to be monitored by a Speech Professional for up to a year via our online software program.

Option #2- L2 Speak Clearer Online Training Program- Available Summer 2010- For this option, you will receive two software programs. The first program will help you to produce the correct techniques by watching and listening to high quality video and audio instructional video. Once you have mastered the technique you will be asked to submit your recordings. A Speech Professional will then analyze your recordings and provide you with helpful techniques to correct any problems you may have. After all techniques have been successfully learned, you will then graduate to the practice section of the program. The practice section is based on voice recognition technology and the computer will give you immediate feedback while you practice your new skills. You will also continue to be monitored by a Speech Professional for up to a year via our online software program.

Option #3- Native Accent Online Program- An excellent program that will help you to improve your techniques. This software uses voice recognition technology and the computer will give you immediate feedback while you practice your new skills. You will also continue to be monitored by a Speech Professional for up to a year via our online software program.

Option #4- Native Accent Online Program- An excellent program that will help you to improve your techniques. This software uses voice recognition technology and the computer will give you immediate feedback while you practice your new techniques. This program is recommended for advanced speakers who do not require a Speech Professional to monitor their progress.
